Located along the canal-side city centre of Birmingham, Broderick House has 456 rooms and is home to students and visitors all year round. The building has undergone significant refurbishment reopening in January 2022.  

Project Outline: 

As part of the building upgrade, relevant steps were taken to ensure fire safety regulations were up to standard. The previous natural ventilation system was non-compliant posing a risk to student residents and fire fighters.

Flo-Vent provided a new, compliant AOV system ensuring life-saving measures were in place. Building access inside and out was problematic but Flo-Vent’s designers and project managers were able to find a solution. Via a new mechanical ventilation system, 4 newly designed and installed fire rated duct smoke shafts, Flo-Vent successfully ventilated the lobbies and stairwells with inventive solutions.
